The Project: Stunning Aluminium Front Door Installation in Putney, London

When the client contacted Your Price Bifolds to see if we could install a new front door for their period home in Putney, London, we were delighted to help. The client was looking for a robust, secure, and durable door for their property that would add a contemporary twist to their Victorian-era home.

There are many options for front doors and we know that this is one of the first things any visitors will notice when they visit your property and is key when making a great first impression. Traditional options such as timber are popular but these doors do not provide the same level of insulation and security that composite and aluminium doors offer. In consultation with our client, we designed and planned a made-to-measure composite door from Solidor, which offers a blend of precision-engineering, excellent security, and outstanding energy efficiency. With a timber core and a uPVC outer skin, these doors offer a huge wealth of benefits.

The Results

We removed the old front door and supplied and fitted the new door, which had composite side panels with a number above to ensure a stunning bespoke door. Solidor doors are available in a whole range of colours and sizes for a completely made to measure and individual look.

The installation process was fast and seamless. All our doors are fitted by our in-house installation team, who have decades of experience supplying and fitting windows and doors.

Any challenges?

During the ordering process, we had to find the correct font for the numbered unit above the door. The door removal process was particularly tricky because we had to be very careful not to damage the door frame.

We've just had new bifold doors, a side door and a couple of windows fitted by YPE and couldn't be happier. From the start Terry was infinitely patient with my many questions and changes of mind. When it came to arranging delivery Marie was extremely responsive, helpful and pleasant to deal with, and finally Kirk and the team who did an awesome job on the install.We looked at a few places to get the windows from but decided to go with YPE based on their reviews and i'm glad we did.

The whole experience was great. We had some old bifold doors from another company that were broken and needed completely replacing. YPE were quick to respond to our initial enquiry, and soon after visited to measure up, coming back with the most competitive quote. The best thing about YPE is that they did everything they could to find a solution to our problem, which was to replace original 1920s leaded windows with a match in aluminium with the teardrop pattern reproduced. I knew I wanted Origin 70 slim frames but was unsure how well the leaded fanlights would be matched. YPE arranged to get leaded panels mocked up, matching the originals, taking great care to get this right. Our original architraves were preserved, scalloped lead flashing was reproduced too. Great care was taken not to damage the pebble dash surrounding windows which wouldn’t have been easy to match if repair was needed. Fitters were pleasant and tidy. Snags were dealt with quickly. There was no pushy salesman, no hard sell or patronising attitudes which are still prevalent in this business. We were nervous about removing beautiful original windows but very pleased with the result.

A company that actually sticks to their lead times! We got a site visit from Andy within 48 hours of requesting one, despite being almost 1hr and a half away. Quoted a two week lead time for a bifold and one window when everyone else was quoting 8-12 weeks, and bang on time, the stock arrived with them and they installed the next day. The fit and finish is brilliant and the lads were very friendly and helpful. Faultless service and have since recommended them to friends!

We first chose to use YPE Windows after meeting Andy who was absolutely brilliant. He had a quick turnaround on getting our Origin windows ordered and were ready to fit promptly.Fred & Chad fitted our new windows and have been absolutely great, I cannot recommend them enough. The quality of the aluminium windows and doors we choose is very high but in a way this is the easy part because it's clearly visible. More difficult is knowing how well they well be installed. Fred and Andy who fitted them are well above your average window fitter - they are craftsmen who took real care and pride in their work. They turned up when they said they would, discussed and agreed finishing options with us and then completed the work with great attention to detail. Perfect!
