Supply and fit of state-of-the-art Origin bifold doors with double magnetic blinds in Thornton Heath, London

As part of an extension project to a home in Thornton Heath, London, Your Price Bifolds supplied and installed new Origin doors with double magnetic blinds. The client was looking for the feeling of light and air during the summer months, so she could enjoy a seamless transition between inside and outside. Origin Bifolds are made from aluminium, which is lightweight yet robust so also offers super-slim sightlines meaning the client could enjoy the views of the garden when the doors were shut during the colder months. With energy efficiency ratings beating British Standards by some margin, the client could have peace of mind they would stay cosy and save energy whatever the weather.

The Results

Your Price Bifolds worked with the client to design the doors and they opted for popular three-door bifolds. The surveyor went to the site to meet the builder and agree the overall size of the door. The builder knocked out the wall on the morning of the installation, ready for the fitters to fit the bifolds and the blinds.

The client opted for fitted bespoke blinds for their bifold doors installation, giving them greater control over the amount of light the blinds let in. With no hanging cords, Origin blinds can be manually or automatically opened and closed and offer an easy and child-safe blind solution. The client opted for blinds that are controlled by discreet magnets that raise and lower the slats.

The client was delighted with the bifold doors and blinds and the work of our installation team.

Any challenges?

We were asked to arrive later in the day, so arrived to complete the fitting at midday. Our installation team would normally arrive on site at 8am to 9am to ensure any bifold doors fitting is completed in the day. This was no problem for our installation team. One of the most experienced fitters was completing the job and he was the lead man on this site. He ensured the doors and blinds were fitted to perfection before the team lost daylight.

We've just had new bifold doors, a side door and a couple of windows fitted by YPE and couldn't be happier. From the start Terry was infinitely patient with my many questions and changes of mind. When it came to arranging delivery Marie was extremely responsive, helpful and pleasant to deal with, and finally Kirk and the team who did an awesome job on the install.We looked at a few places to get the windows from but decided to go with YPE based on their reviews and i'm glad we did.

The whole experience was great. We had some old bifold doors from another company that were broken and needed completely replacing. YPE were quick to respond to our initial enquiry, and soon after visited to measure up, coming back with the most competitive quote. The best thing about YPE is that they did everything they could to find a solution to our problem, which was to replace original 1920s leaded windows with a match in aluminium with the teardrop pattern reproduced. I knew I wanted Origin 70 slim frames but was unsure how well the leaded fanlights would be matched. YPE arranged to get leaded panels mocked up, matching the originals, taking great care to get this right. Our original architraves were preserved, scalloped lead flashing was reproduced too. Great care was taken not to damage the pebble dash surrounding windows which wouldn’t have been easy to match if repair was needed. Fitters were pleasant and tidy. Snags were dealt with quickly. There was no pushy salesman, no hard sell or patronising attitudes which are still prevalent in this business. We were nervous about removing beautiful original windows but very pleased with the result.

A company that actually sticks to their lead times! We got a site visit from Andy within 48 hours of requesting one, despite being almost 1hr and a half away. Quoted a two week lead time for a bifold and one window when everyone else was quoting 8-12 weeks, and bang on time, the stock arrived with them and they installed the next day. The fit and finish is brilliant and the lads were very friendly and helpful. Faultless service and have since recommended them to friends!

The quality of the aluminium windows and doors we choose is very high but in a way this is the easy part because it's clearly visible. More difficult is knowing how well they well be installed. Fred and Andy who fitted them are well above your average window fitter - they are craftsmen who took real care and pride in their work. They turned up when they said they would, discussed and agreed finishing options with us and then completed the work with great attention to detail. Perfect!
